Yordan Yanchev from Sandanski Sports Complex (54.24) and Gabriela Georgieva – “Damini-Sofia” (59.45), are winners in the 81st edition of the Galata-Varna swimming marathon. The competition took place on Sunday, August 1, in the sea capital. 228 people from 11 countries, including Belgium, Turkey, Croatia, Germany, Romania, USA, Israel, Russia, Denmark, Greece and Bulgaria, participated in the oldest swimming competition in Bulgaria.
Second among men with a time of 55.38 finished Stanimir Raev from the champion PSC “Black Sea”. Eva Hristova from “Asteri” was second among ladies (1,03.30). From third to sixth place for men are: Georgi Tsurev, “Asteri” (56.30), Kaloyan Bratanov, “Asteri” (56.50), Radostin Krastev, PC “Sandanski” (57.46) and Ivan Paligorov (59.35). Among the ladies on third place is Alexandra Vachkova, Asteri (1.03.32), followed by Selena Vlahova, Levent-Sofia (1.05.40), Gergana Stoyanova, Asteri (1.05.47) and Radina Radeva, Asteri (1.05.50).
The prize for the best male swimmer from Varna was won by Stanimir Raev from the champion PSC “Black Sea”. He was also awarded the Dobri Dinev Cup.
Eva Hristova from Asteri won the award for the best female swimmer from Varna. Miroslav Savov was awarded for the swimmer with the most appearances in the marathon – a total of 37, and the prize for a swimmer with disabilities was presented to Plamen Ivanov.
The organizers of the marathon are the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Municipality of Varna and the swimming champion of Bulgaria PSK “Black Sea”. The event is held with the support of the Maritime Administration, Naval School “N.Y. Vaptsarov ”, Regional Directorate“ Fire Safety and Protection of the Population ”- Varna, Medical Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Bulgarian Red Cross, Medical University – Varna, Bulgarian Maritime Chamber, Public Transport, Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior and Municipal Police, “Ustrem” volunteer organization.
The prize fund is worth a total of BGN 6,800.
