Preparations for the big swimming weekend 2022 have begun. On Sunday, August 7th, the 82nd edition of the oldest swimming event in Bulgaria, the Galata-Varna marathon, will take place. A day earlier, on August 6th, is the sixth edition of the mass swimming 1000 x 1000. The organizers of the events are the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Municipality of Varna and the swimming champion of Bulgaria PSK “Black Sea”.

Statistics in recent years show that these two events are extremely popular. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, in 2021 228 swimmers from 11 countries took part in the Galata-Varna marathon. The winners in the nearly 5-kilometer route were Yordan Yanchev from Sandanski Sports Complex (54.24 min) and Gabriela Georgieva – Damini – Sofia (59.45 min).

More than 300 people of all ages took part in the mass swimming 1000 x 1000. The event was created on the idea of Philip Rombaut, president of PSK “Black Sea”. The main sponsor is Agropolichim Ltd. with the exclusive support of Lucky Hunt Projects.

This swimming event is not competitive, but it is a mass celebration for young and adults with a lot of emotions and dozens of prizes in an attractive raffle.
