The waters along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast are in no way polluted after the explosion of the Nova Kakhovka dam in Ukraine.This is confirmed by the experts in charge of monitoring the incident.After the pollution from the waters of the exploded dam, the Ministry of Environment and Water in our country opened three new special points for monitoring the purity of the waters – in Durankulak, Shabla and Kaliakra.As of July 11th, the samples taken did not show excesses in any of the regulatory indicators.

From the Center for Integrated Management and Monitoring of the Coastal Zone at Naval Academy “N.J. Vaptsarov” also confirmed the purity of the sea water.The center is monitoring the waters via satellites for potential pollutants as a result of the incident.Data show that potential pollutants are circulating in Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone.The satellite images show no pollution in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone.According to the data, there are no concerns related to the bathing areas along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

“Practically, our work is coming to an end.The incident in Ukraine took place on June 6th, since we continuously monitor the processes.To date, there has been no pollution as a result of the blasting of the dam wall.We have a satellite picture of both the possible spots and the sea currents.The Danube Delta is also a kind of pollution brake.People can be calm, the participants in the Galata – Varna marathon will swim in clean waters”, confirmed the head of the Monitoring Center, Captain First Rank Prof. Dr. Miroslav Tsvetkov.
