By tradition, every year during the active holiday season, RZI – Varna regularly monitors the cleanliness of the sea water in the bathing areas along the Varna Black Sea coast. This year, from the month of May, experts regularly take samples and report up-to-date data, which is very important for the participants in the Galata – Varna swimming marathon. Its 84th edition this year is on August 4.

After the last report for now – from June 25th, swimmers should be reassured that the water quality is good. A total of 23 points were investigated. Among them are the start and finish areas of the marathon – respectively “Asparuhovo” beach and Bunite beach – Varna.

According to the data, the microbiological parameters of the water are perfect in both monitored points.

On the beach in Asparuhovo, 30 units per 100 cubic cm of water of intestinal enterococci and 30 units of Escherichia coli were measured. The reference value for enterococci is 200 units, and for Escherichia coli – 500 units.

The values for Bunite beach, where the swimmers will finish, are respectively 30 units for intestinal enterococci and 30 units for Escherichia coli, i.e. times below the norm.

The next samples will be released in the coming days.
